Some people believe that cables don't make a difference, but...

To get 3db more, you'd half to cut headphone+cable impedance in half from stock. What JH is saying makes no sense, the ~1ohm cable can't do that.
I'm not a believer in cables for audio quality myself. They should be well built, and bought for ergonomics, size, connectors, durablilty, and looks. And price
