I have a 3600MKII and have not been impressed. Plugging these components into it I noticed an immediate decrease in musical dynamics and listening was so boring that I stopped using it after 5 min. (I later tried it again to the same effect)
Components plugged into it:
Philips DVP-642
Zhaolu 1.3
LDII+
it's now in my home theater where the loss of dymanics is still present, but not distractingly so and I figured the protection was worth the slight loss since I don't do any critical listening there.

I have one and it made a pretty nice improvement in my speaker system. I don't think the speaker sound any different but the subwoofers definitely seems to benefit. There is a difference and it's more significant than what you'll get by upgrading cables for sure.
