Monoprice releases their first high-end DAC!

To my knowledge, it will be the least expensive DAC that uses AKM's flagship DAC chip - the Verita AK4499EQ.

It lists for $499.99 and should start shipping on 11/21/2019.

I understand why, but it is such a bummer to keep seeing the date for this pushed back. Now listed as June 26th, but I am not holding my breath. A buddy of mine recently listened to the Topping D90 that uses this same chip, and was blown away by its performance. Was hoping to stack this with my Liquid Platinum at work, hopefully by the time quarantine is relaxed this finally releases!

Monoprice has finally started shipping their Cavalli Liquid Gold X amp and Liquid Spark DAC after nearly 1 year of delays.

So hopefully the Liquid Platinum DAC will be next to start shipping. It currently has an ETA of 10/30, but take that date with the biggest grain of salt you have ever seen!

Pushed again from 12/4/20 to 1/8/21. Does anyone have any idea what’s up? I’m about to get a Modius for my LP or a Topping D50.

That would make sense I guess.

Did these ever start shipping? Any impressions?

I just bought one. I'll compare with Gumby and Denafrips Ares when it arrives. Supposedly shipping tomorrow. I agree it's overpriced, but I have the LP modded and want to see how they sound together compared to the Ares specifically. One of them will stay; one will go.

I also think it may be discounted to $600 by end of summer and perhaps further around the holidays like the LP. But I'll take advantage of the 30 day return and try it out.

Looking forward to your impressions. I had the LP for a long time and was looking forward to this when it was announced. I think it would have been a hit at that time, assuming it sounds good. Let us know!
