Venue: The Counting House, Cornhill, City of London

1/2 min walk from Bank underground, 10 minute walk from Liverpool Street, 20 minutes from Cannon Street, 30 minutes from London Bridge

MAP

Price: No cost! The room was free to book

Rules:
  1. If you plan on handling or wearing other attendees gear, wash your hair that day and your hands before you enter the room. Come clean and wearing no hair gel or other hair products, unless you wear a clean hat between the phones and your hair;
  2. The room I have booked will be a listening/equipment room while the broader pub outside will be for socialising and small talk, this will help keep the noise levels in the room low;
  3. Drink as much as you want, but if you want to go into the listening room, don't get drunk. Keep it to a pint or two and then we can have a social drink after everything is safely packaged away if people want to. If you're a lightweight and might lose some motor control after a couple, don't have a couple.

F.A.Q. (Will add answers to questions asked here as we go forward)

How quiet will it be?

I've used their rooms before, they have proper doors and on a Monday night not close to christmas/ end of financial year it will be pretty quiet, certainly quiet enough to appreciate headphones.

How many plug sockets will be in the room?

I have checked with the pub and there are two single sockets and one double, so four individual plug sockets. I'm sure someone can bring a multi adapter if anyone thinks we will need more.

OK Cool well it looks like there is some interest in this, the next thing is to talk about locations that suit everyone.

I'd think somewhere central would be most neutral. There's a pub called the Counting House on Cornhill near Bank in the square mile that has free-to-book function rooms that are closed off from the rest of the pub and quiet (don't worry not suggesting we get pissed around expensive audio gear, we'll have an agreement to keep it sober :wink:.

Would people be open to that?

@ musicday - I'm actually from Croydon orginally (small world) I live in Norbury at the moment so not very far away at all, but I'd be worried organising something that far south would close it off to people in the west, east and north.

We could try and make it somewhere near a major station maybe?

Actually it's not hard to get to the square mile from London Bridge or Cannon Street if that helps?

@ PZ4 - Cool, would love to see what the balanced hype is all about if you're up for bringing some gear along. I could bring my unbalanced HD650s and we could compare the difference.

Actually, in terms of what I can bring, well as you can probably see from my sig I have mostlly "obvious" stuff that most people will have heard. Hopefully I'll make up for that with organising it.
