that's good news. i was putting this post off because of the annoyance of having to buy and wait for minor parts just to confirm something on my computer worked. i also did a bit of googling and found a notebookreview post that confirmed it for my model as well.

so now that i know i have that option as well, will whatever i end up purchasing if i do go the s/pdif, do they usually come with the necessary ICs needed? also does s/pdif power better than usb or vise versa or is it the same?

also out of curiousity, about how much does a full size amp and dac cost to run 24 hours a day? i'm sure they're all different, but generally speaking?
