Hi fellas, just wondering if any one has compared the moded denons to the ath-ad2000 yet? I'm about to purchase either the denon or audio technica.
I've read lots of positives comments on these two can.

I'm looking for detail, resolution, imaging, soundstage, mids/highs/lows, tone
and instrument separation.

Those who own other phones to compare to these are free to chime in. Cheers

If its any consolation there are some things that my AD700 does better than my D2000 and vice versa. I havn't recabled my D2000 yet though but so far I have to say that I prefer my AT phones to my Denons. Price isn't everything.

but the d2000 ain't the ad2000 and neither is it the d5000.

I find your question a bit too vague. First you didn't mention which model of Denons you are asking about. Second - what mods? Recable? Recable plus ear chamber mods? The mods markl posted about?

They are very different cans. First of all, one is open and the other is closed. The Denon's will have all of your requirements but soundstage will almost always be better on an open can. Closed cans are more intimate and revealing in my opinion, and have better bass response.
