Hmm, I compared to a FLAC track and the vinyl version. Track: Nick Warren Underground Paris - Audioglider - Zusammenallien.

The Vinyl version had anemic bass response. Very flabby and uncontrolled.

FLAC on the other hand thru the same amp was tight and controlled.

What could be the cause? Anyone have a clue?

Firstly, how do the highs and mids compare? Was the sound clean and detailed or dull and slow? Tonal balance bright or warm? Any surface noise from the record?
Do you have the turntable on a firm support?

The sound is dull and muddy compared to the digital counterparts. The tonal balance? Sounds just weak to me, warm, but the bass is not controlled. And there is a bit of surface noise. Could I have damaged the tonearm wires? How tight are they suppose to be connected?

Everything else is aligned fine, 90 degrees, check. 1.80 grams, check.

It just sounds less detailed and less everything than digital.

do you mean you snapped the wire off the tag that attachs to the cart. this is a right pain but easily done. You need to solder it back on. Any decent dealer sould be able to do this and will maybe be able to help you with set up.
