In David Bowie's 70's hit "Fame" late in the song Bowie in an electronically altered voice says "What's your name?" and it goes on echoeing a few times...

Misheard: "****'in-A, ****'in-A, ****'in-A, ****'in-A, ****'in-A..."
Real: "What's your name?, What's your name?, What's your name?, What's your name?, What's your name?"

Always wondered how that one made it to the radio.

IS:
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.

HEARD:
Digging around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.

Not a real big difference, but I've been singing it wrong for many years.

Last time I checked, that's a Simon and Garfunkel song. Clapton is an ******.

Okay, some people like him, but I don't. I'm not sure he even covered Cecilia.

Heard: "I'm blue, I'm in need of a guy..."

Real: "I'm blue, a ba di a ba dy..."
--the first two still make more sense to me

Heard: "The grass is always greener, where the dogs are ****ting."
Real: "The grass is always greener, where the dogs are shedding."

Good Soundgarten pull. I alwys thought it a better lyric when it wasn't "shedding"

Way back when when Van Halen's 1984 came out (I was a freshman in high school...I'm getting old and remember that almost like it was yesterday), for the longest time I thought it was on 'Panama':

Heard: "Had enough!......had enough-fa"

Real: "Pan-a-ma!.........pan-a-muh-ha"

That's exactly what I was going to post.
But wait, I thought it was "I'm blue, da ba dee, da ba dy" ?
When I first heard it, "I'm blue, I'm in need of a guy."
My sister: "I'm blue, if I were green I would die."

You're probably right. I did a quick Google search for the real lyrics and couldn't find a consistent line, so I just wrote what I remembered. At any rate, he was singing nonsense syllables, and that's not what I heard.

The true text is:
...waaaay down inside
Woman - you need it ........looooooooove
I'm gonna give ya every inch of my love...

I was sure from listening to their live show - The song remains the same - that they were saying:

...WAAAAIT down inside
Woman - you need it .........looooooooove
I'm gonna give ya every inch of my love...

well, at least it fits ...inside... doesn't it?
