I really shouldn't listen to wikipedia, but i found the "minimalism" belief. How accurate is this claim?

You are reading too deep into it . It just means no additional equalizing or dsp'ing beyond what is on the recording. Simple circuitry isn't the only way to deal with emf, some manufacturers use a lot of shielding and smart placement of circuitry instead.

To me it makes sense to keep as original to the composer/musician/recording as possible. But, what is original and what sounds best is too subjective to make any objective measuring a waste of time.

I believe people use measuring as a way to justify keeping formats to a mathematical minimum rather than the sound itself.

That's why I always look at art (and life) through a funhouse mirror. I don't want to get bogged down in what the artist (or reality) intended.
