hey guys, i tried searching but could not find much in regards to this subject. if there is already a thread on this, mods please go ahead and delete it.
i currently have in my possession both revision 2 and 3 of the minibox E+. in other words, the one with the black toggle switches and the current one with the red push buttons respectively.
this is NOT a review, but merely a comparison for those considering buying one. if any of the info below is inaccurate, then please by all means feel free to correct me.
to make a long story short, i ended up with 2 because of issues of the audio cutting from the audio out jack. this is most likely due to the abuse portable amps go through.
some things to note when i first opened up both amps:
- revision 3 has shorter screws than revision 2, and they are not interchangable
- as you will see in the pictures below, the audio jacks used on both are different
- the switches on revision 3 are directly mounted and connected to the main board, whereas on revision 2 they are mounted on the main board but connected with wire
- the caps used are the same
- the op amps and buffers are the same model, but have different codes underneath the model numbers
pictures (excuse the bad lighting
):
both next to each other
revision 3
revision 2
edit: as for sound, i do not hear much of a difference. this may be due to the fact that i have not owned both for very long.
