Have been visiting this web site everyday in this few months, and finally here's my first post.

I have a pair of DT770/250 for one year now. Either directly driving them from Denon S-301 or Sony NWZ-S638, or through FiiO e5, does not seem to be sufficient, hence am thinking about buying either one of these two:

- Minibox E+
- iBasso P3+

I listen to all types of music but my favorite bands are radiohead and animal collective...

Please advise!

BTW Minibox E+ will be $65 cheaper than iBasso P3+ for me.

use my minibox to power Beyer 880s, 250 ohm and no problem at all. WOuld imagine the 770 would work just as well

One more question: since neither my sony walkman nor my Denon system has a line out, have to rely on the headphone out (I could be wrong though). I read somewhere that the headphone out is fine, as long as you max the volume of your source to the point where there's no hiss. Any thoughts about this?

If you use the headphone out to feed an amp I normally place the player volume at about 80% and then I use the volume in the amp to drive the headphones. Good luck.

Yea IMO leave the player volume around 80 or 85 percent and then run the amp volume off of that; going higher might cause clipping.

How much better will the fi.Quest be than the P3+? And how important/difficult is the ability to roll opamps for both?
