My new Go-vibe V5 amp is currently making its way from canada to my house and I am in need of a pretty good quality mini to mini interconnect in order for me to be ready for it when it arrives. I have searched and read numerous threads about DIY cables and was wondering if a DIY mini to mini made from swithcraft connectors and canare starquad would function better than a $15 cardas interconnect. Any help would be great

(or if Turbo wanted to hook it up like he hooked that other guy up that would be phenomena l

I'm assuming you mean the Cardas HPI as there are 2 versions of Cardas mini's. The answer is they will be equal but sound different and will have different ergonomic properties. The Cardas HPI has a very small footprint. The right angle jacks are very small and if using the set up in a bag it is an excellent choice. The Switchcraft 35HDRABAU 3.5mm RIGHT ANGLED STEREO PLUG has a much larger foot print and honestly in a 6" or shorter situation I don't like to use it unless the cable diameter governs the need for a large connector. In small cable diameters I use the NEUTRIK NTP3RC-B 3.5mm RIGHT ANGLED STEREO PLUG. The HPI uses 3 Cardas Golden Ratio conductors. The Cardas wire gives a more lush liquid warm tube like sound. This is an exaggerated view point to give you an idea of the sound signature. The Star quad is also a stranded non enamel coated copper based cable. Gauge depends on which cable you use and tends to have a more forward less neutral sound. and is less flexible than the Cardas HPI. If in a desktop setup them this is not an issue. Hope some of this gives you some ideas. Have fun

Thanks for the info. I actually reposted this thread in the DIY section because it seemed like it was pretty dead over here.

Im probably gonna make my IC with canare starquad mic cable with some switchcraft connectors. What are your opinions on techflex? I've been hearing a lot of mixed opinions on it but I really like the look.

I was thinking more as far as microphonics, but another headfi-er already answered my question. I didn't know that microphonics were only really present on headphone cables and not interconnects. I actually really like the look of techflex and plan on using it on my IC.
