I'm just beginning my venture into high(er)-end audio equipment, and I'm at a fork.  I currently own a pair of AV40 speakers from m-audio which have the ability for 1/4" balanced input.  I cannot decide which one to purchase.  However I would like to purchase a pair of IEMS also; the UE TF10pros or the MTPC.

The DACmagic from what I have been reading is more neutral, and does not color the music nearly as much as the matrix.  Downside: no HP amp built in, and would only be useful, for now, in sending audio to the speakers.

The matrix on the other hand is a DAC and a HP amp.  It provides balanced output to the speakers, and also has a HP amp built in.  It also has a colored signature, which could come into my favor as it gives rock music better sound, according to Headfonia.

My question.

Buy the DACmagic and IEM and only output to the speakers, and save for an amp.
or
Buy the matrix and IEM and output to the speakers and also be able to better drive the IEMS.
