Now that's out of the way: Over summer I want to build a small form factor media pc based on the mini-itx platform. I'm thinking of using this case which as you can see is pretty small. A small LCD screen will stand on top (any suggestions?) and the whole thing will sit on top of my stereo rack (such as it is).

The pc will send its audio to my home stereo, which is modest but reasonably capable: A Denon AVR-1804 Receiver driving 2 x Kef Q3 speakers and a Kef PSW-2500 sub. I should have got a real amp.

The mini-itx board has only one PCI slot, and given the small case, I am thinking of using a modded emu-0404 soundcard. Will that soundcard need a pre-amp stage? Should I use a digital optical or analog signal to the Denon?

Lastly, has anyone got any experience with mini-itx for these kind of projects? What, if anything, should I look out for? I plan to have wi-fi - will that cause interference?
