I was looking at the pics and I totally agree that I don't like that grounding connection. Get yourself that meter because you will want to ohm out (probe) those connections. Just ask if you have no idea what this means.
A few of those solder joints look VERY suspect to me. They look cold or possibly not making a connection at all. Look especially at the connection on the 3rd one from the left in the 1st pic.
Also, the fact you can hear each channel when you plug your headphones in tells me the audio should be working. If you only heard just the left or just the right when you plug in your headphones, then something may be dead. Check your cables, check everything!
actually i'm pretty sure that's the input that's the problem as well. so first i'm going to try to fix the bias and if not maybe i'll ask someone to take a look at the soldering on that input. thanks
i was taking a look at this amp for my brother.. the tubes were biased but still problem with only one channel working.. check for continuity in the RCA input jacks and it is there so the soldering there isn't a problem.. I was wondering if you could take a look at the soldering of the. I took a picture below.. I am not sure but am wondering if there might be an issue here. I'm not sure what's supposed to be soldered here and what isn't supposed to be.
I tried checking the headphone output and there is only the left channel working and same goes for the RCA outputs - only the left channel working.
