Hey I am looking for advice to upgrade from M-Audio A40s to something in the mid price range.

I have gathered input from international users of T-Amps and bookshelf speakers and they state that a pair of Dayton B652 and a cheapo TA2020 T-amp surpasses the AV40s so if you could land a Polk M30II or Infinity Primus P152 those would be great

Or you could try the samson media one 4a ,p retty much the same as the av40's but sound a bit better.
