engadget:"As for ballyhoo, wireless Zune-to-Zune sharing is where the real action is at, and it works pretty much like we've been hearing: you can share a full-length track with a friend, and they've got three times to listen to it over a three day period, after which they can flag the song for purchase on the Zune Marketplace -- unless they're an unlimited "Zune Pass" subscriber, of course"

wow, that sucks

Basically, the only thing the Zune has going for it is WiFi music sharing. And my concern with that is that using WiFi will zap the battery in no time. Most of all, the thing I love most about the iPod is it's interface and the click wheel. I have yet to find a DAP with such an elegant and easy to use interface. From looking at the Zune, I wouldnt bet that it has an interface as near as nice as the iPod. How long until Zune 2.0?

Wrong, Sony have ****ed up so much aswell that Wii will probably become the winner with Sony second (of course) and 360 last.

Zune looks really cool! How big compared to iPod? The 3-inch screen is obviously a major plus and so is the on-the-go wifi sharing.

I hope Apple brings out the 6G soon. The 2G Nano/Shuffle are great, but the 5.5G iPod is only a minor improvement upon the 5G.

Having had the chance to play around with the zune for a few minutes, I'm definintly sold on it. I've never been a big fan of the ipod though, so I may be biased. The controls work really well, and the interface is pretty slick. It's not "choked" with DRM anymore than the ipod allready is. The DRM is for songs you get off the zune service (which is also going to have a napster like passport type thing, which is a pretty big advantage over itunes), and it will play non drm mp3s, wmas, and aac.

One interesting feature they mentioned was being able to send recordings you had made to other people. Sine I don't think the Zune has recording capabilities, that would mean the wmas and mp3s you "make" yourself will be able to be sent over the wifi, perhaps that means all non drm files will be able to be sent wirelessly, which would be pretty cool.

Also, it will have better battery life than the ipod. At least 12 hours, and they are working on improving it more by tweaking the wifi adapter.

I'm wanting to know how that is a big advantage over iTunes? I'm not trying to start an argument I just need more information.

I just found this jucey nugget on the Zune. In the press package microsoft released footnote 4 states: Zune software can import audio files in unprotected WMA, MP3, AAC; photos in JPEG; and videos in WMV, MPEG-4, H.264.

What seems to be missing is support for protected files. The full press release can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/p...ocs/ZuneFS.doc
