I'm thinking about buying a microdac, and I saw that there is a new 2007 model coming out, but its $100 more than the current model. I was thinking about just buying the older one while its still in stock. Am I doing the right thing?

It all depends on what you want to use it for. If you want to use it as a portable, then the current model is the only choice as the new model does not offer a battery power option. Otherwise, I don't really see much of a difference between them other then the new model offering a full-sized toslink plug.
