I'm getting the Headroom Micro DAC and Amp for my HD580 headphones, but I also have the Swans M200 speakers. Since the Swans are self-powered by an internal amp, I was wondering if there would be any point in running them through the Micro DAC and Amp, or would it be better to just plug them into the DAC while leaving the Micro Amp out?

Get a spliter and use it to send the signal to both the Micro Amp and the speakers. Then you choose what you listen to by turning on the Micro Amp or the speakers. Good luck.

Thanks. I actually do have a splitter, but I don't mind unplugging cables. I just wanted to know if amping the signal twice was pointless or detrimental.

It would be detrimental since you would be amplifying the distortion of the first amplifier.
