my current setup consists of
pc> v-dac> gs solo> ath-ad2000. and although i am relatively happy, i do have the urge to try a different dac.
the v-dac cost me £175. now if i were to spend up to £400 on a new dac, would there be much of an improvement? (i am thinking of new dacs, although 2nd hand suggestions welcomed)

if the answer is a straight "no", could you suggest a price point where the difference would, without doubt, be noticed?

many thanks
OS

Hi oldson, I responded in another forum where you asked a similar question. Personally I really like the output of the Oritek V4 or V4.1 for under $400 used, but you will need a step down transformer.

Next would be a Monarchy NM24, this unit occasionally shows up in Audiogon fro $1,080. IMO the NM24 sounds much better than the perennial favorites like the Benchmark.

I have similar consideration. I am thinking of the Audio-gd's DAC19Mk3. But it only does 24/96. I believe we are going to see more 24/192 in the future.

Cheers.

thanks for the replies guys.
there seems to be very little available at my budget of £400-450.
there are plenty cheaper and more expensive. so i may go 2nd hand
