Would anyone recommend any DAP pairing that works well without EQ?
I am considering FiiO M23, M15S, M17 but noticed an opinion in a review that m15s is not good with Liric OG
The M15S like to push the midrange forward. It gets shouty and sibilant on some tracks.
I wounder if it's true for Liric 2

Dear friends, here is my Meze Audio Liric 2 review. I find the sound performance much better than the previous model.

Very nice review! I have similar positive feelings about my model. Now, I’m searching for the best stationary DAC-amp combo for the Liric II. I’m looking for something not too fancy but capable of providing the best sound these headphones can deliver. Which system do you enjoy the most? I’m considering a Violectric V222 paired with a nice DAC or streamer, but I’m not sure yet. I’m trying to figure it out.

Thank you. Lately I have been enjoying very much the Yulong Asura. A great all-in-one solution. Otherwise, you can't never go wrong with the V222 and a DAC of your choice.

Have you heard the Sony MDR-Z1R? I'm curious how it compares to the Liric 2. Some day I want to invest in a high-end closed back and right now these two are my top contenders. I've been lusting over the Z1R ever since it was released but Meze has caught my attention lately.

I can tell you that the Sony Z1R is a technical marvel and a headphone well worth experiencing due to its construction.

Having now owned it twice, I have to say I am consistently still surprised by people who say that it still sounds competitive. One particular YouTuber, you are who I generally find insightful and helpful recently loaded its praises, but I can’t say I agree with his conclusions.

Owning an original Liric has been a much better experience from a sonic perspective. It’s easier to drive and yet sounds better from the sources that I tried. I suppose some people think the Z1R has a very fun sound signature but the reality is, it has a huge missing component in the Mids and it makes way too many songs from way too many genres sound like the person is singing from the bottom of a well.

The other problem with the Z one R is that although it’s the close back, it is the exact opposite of portable. It is an extremely large headphone and also relatively delicate so it is not one that you can take with you on a commute or even toss in a bag for a trip.

In that regard, I think the Liric 2 would be a much better choice as I can’t imagine it sounds any “worse“ than the first version, plus the replaceable pads or at least much more easily replaceable pads are a huge ergonomic improvement.

Hello, I have only heard them once in a meeting and this was long time ago so I can't offer valid comparison. I remember not liking the bass as it was too much boosted for my neutral tastes.
