Hey guys, I'll try to keep this as brief as I can so it isn't too long of a read.

Budget: ~$400 USD "max"
Would like: Over ear, closed, comfortable, and portable-ish (subjective, I know).
Music taste: Metal and rock. Occasionally EDM and classical.

It seems people with my taste are recommended the Sony MDR-1R, Sennheiser Momentum, V-MODA M100 and some AKG models I know the least about.

Right now I have Bose IE2's and they are what I am used to and I like them (but they're also all I know). Does that mean I like a little extra bass?

If the MDR's are recommended by a land slide and I go with them, I have one question: these guys are $179 on amazon. Is there anything better since I can afford more?

Music:

Ice Nine Kills (metal): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9A0B11GKN5k

Breaking Benjamin (amazing): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2S5iNb-DTE

Icon for Hire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS8sqgBgzG8

Periphery (bair nair wer nerow weir) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAq-xM3sK_I

Hope this helps :)

Thanks guys!

Well, assuming you're a basshead, because it seems like you will be one, the Denon AH-D600 plus a cheap FiiO amp works great.
If you want a more balanced sound, the PSB M4U 2s seem to be the best sound quality at the 400 dollar range.
