Hi, i have asked for this dac as a christmas present. Are the options for this limited on Android devices outside the sound recorder pro app? I am considering a HTC One, a Sony Xperia Z1 or an Iphone 5s. Which one of these will be better? The meridian dac is ment to be one of the best around.
 
I would like to stick with android, if the explorer can be used without much trouble.

Hi there, the Meridian Explorer is a bit of a hassle to get working portably TBH. I've just given up on mine and am selling it. My experience is limited to iPhone and iPad so no idea about Andriod.

The sound is amazing and I loved it, but had to use the CCK>usb hub> usb Y cable >usb battery at one end and the meridian at the other. It worked but not very convenient. Here's a pic of it all running:
