I have heard that the Sound Professionals Velvet/Velour earpads are good with the Audio-Technica M-series. I'm wondering if there is a larger difference (positive or negative) between the non-memory foam version and the memory foam one. Thanks.

I've bought factory pads from AT and memory foam is denser and can make the bass a little less defined and tones down treble sometimes. It works great for pleather type pads like closed back ones. It's not as dramatic as switching from velour to protein leather, or micro suede. If you get them, wear for 10 minutes for the foam to warm up, since it'll compress to the final sound.
