I ordered belden power cable from someone on a whim and installed it into my melos. It's bright read and stiff as hell, like twice as bright and 3 times as stiff as the clou red. I learned that soldering large cables is much easier with a high powered soldering iron
My melos is a 93' version and does not have an IEC socket. But for the paranoid audiophile maybe a solder joint is just that much better.
Anyhow, the bass was noticeably improved yet again which has me thinking that bass is highly dependent on cables in general after my bass improving experience with the cardas. And it seems that the sound is rounder and better defined as well. I believe that this is what people refer to as an improvement in 'blackness'. Overall, it was an improvement and an immediately noticeable one at that.
A recommended and easy upgrade! (cheap too)
