Meet The FiiO M7: An Exynos 7270-Powered HiFi Music Player

I wish one day Sony will release budget DAP that not only looks good, but also sounds at least average. Sony’s A35 was probably the biggest disappointment in my personal audio life. Great build, normal (but not perfect) UX, and totally flat, lifeless and synthetic sound.
Even FiiO’s M3 sounded better, so I think in terms of SQ M7 won’t be close to Sony…
Did you try the Sony A45 ?
With the Sony wh-1000xm2 (over LDAC) they actually sound surprisingly good, IMHO.

I’m speaking about wired connection. Wireless sound it’s a marit of headphones, not DAP
Point taken - you are right of course

someone asked us whether the M7 supports OTG to our Q1MK2 / Q5, here is the answer and share with you guys that yes it supports and also supports DOP so the Q1MK2/Q5 can decoded the DSD from M7 up to DSD128, also Mojo is OK too!

Then there should be a Type c to Micro USB otg cable in the box. Q1MK2 even support pairing by micro usb to micro usb but no cable is supplied in the box. Even Fiio didn't sell this cables saparately. I want to request Fiio to bring such OTG cables like you guys sell ( L27 cable ) .

James,

Thanks for the information, there is alot of speculation about 1) the expected price for the M7 and 2) Is it intended to replace the X1-II or is it more of a budget model? If the price isn't to high it could be a decent commuter DAP for traveling.

We have not decided the final retail price yet but it is not to replace X1-11.

Yes, we have design a new type c to micro USB OTG cable and will sell it in the coming soon, but we will not promise the M7 is compatible with all USB DAC cause some of the USB DAC may not compatible with M7's USB audio output. of course, we will improve it step by step.

I agree it is. I hope it comes with a nice case like the X3 Mark III does. Actually that comes with two cases but I prefer the TPU case. Fiio definitely beats Sony when it comes to included accessories.

True but I would gladly do with fewer accessories for a better quality DAP. Most electronics manufacturers make higher profit levels from accessories than the electronics. So I would prefer Fiio put money spent on accessories into the DAP and then make the accessories available separately. That way I only buy the accessories I want and not unneeded stuff. Fiio could generate more revenue selling accessories separately. With my Q1 for example I don't need the slicone pads or the short interconnect cable that came with it and would have gladly paid less for the Q1 without these accessories or maybe a better battery in place of the accessories.

Apple and Sony figured this out a long time ago, hence the proprietary connectors and cables. Sony including fewer accessories doesn't seem to hurt their DAP sales.

I need those short cables  , just a bit of OT - got an E11k/A3 at Ali and it doesn't come with any interconnect cables at all and the reason I bought it aside from having an amp, is the short cable which is supposedly included in the new version, @JamesFiiO , I contacted the seller not for asking any refunds but to let them know about the missing short cable. Of all the items, the one I need was missing.

Might cost a lot more than $150 US with the tariffs on Chinese imports but that would't apply to the Canadian price. It looks like an interesting DAP..maybe a good replacement for my X1II.

Unless you use wireless to enjoy APT-X HD, you're better off with the X1 II. The output is quite low powered unless you use only efficient IEMs - I was surprised to see that it is even lower than the Hiby R3! (40mW vs 56mW at 32ohms)

To be fair I'm only concerned because my Pinnacle PX (same as P1) are power hungry. But for the same price Hiby has balanced out and much more wireless options, except APT-X HD (only APT-X).

I used to look out for Fiio products but now the UI and price-performance ratio is not as attractive. Hopefully I'll be able to get something next time.

You may want to also check out the Shanking M0 which is only 38grams and packs many features.

Cheers!

Sad part is no Amplifier is mentioned anywhere. Fiio always mention each and every details in their product page but in M7 page no Amplifier is mentioned. If the price is higher than X3 MK 3 then I am not going to pay for Aptex, LDAC and a touch screen. May be for this reason Aptex is missing from Fiio X3 Mk3. M7 only can beat Hiby r3 by its looks but otherwise R3 is 10 times better than M7.
