So I actually nabbed the last M7K from amazon US after posting about it. I never had an M7, but figured it would be better to have wifi/tidal support out of the box with a (hopefully) newer firmware. But considering this is still a 2 year old, budget dap, I will see how it pans out. I had always wanted an M7 mainly because of the design and how it looks like an AK100ii. Personally, my favorite dap design is this AK100ii x HCC special edition.

I'm happy with the M7. Never been big on streaming, so I can live without Tidal or Spotify support. Now that you can sideload apps, I'm more than satisfied. Have foobar2000 on it now and that's all I need.

The only one difference between the M7 and M7K is that M7K has WiFi support out of the box, but i'm a little bit confused, on M7 we can also turn on WiFi after installing 3-rd party applications. What is the difference between them then, @FiiO ?

Hi,

The only difference between M7 and M7K is the Wifi support. Though you could connect the Wifi via the 3rd party app in M7, the connection distance is too short.

Best regards

Liking the M7K so far a lot. Everything is working great out of the box including wifi, tidal, bluetooth. SW is faster than I expected and even streaming tidal works better than other full android DAPs like Hiby R5 in terms of speed. But as soon as you try any "multitasking" it will lag, but for the price and intended use it works fine. Full database (~250gb) scan did take forever though, but at least you can refresh by folder as well. Sound testing is still underway and too early for me to comment on.

FiiO M7 has any FM Radio issues? Someone in HiBy forum complained FM Radio goes "deaf" on M7. Anyone experienced the same?

My only interest in DAPs is FM Radio. Looking around for a very good DAP with FM Radio function via earphones/headphones. Will be grateful for any kind recommendations in addition to FiiO M7.

Hi,

If you are worried that the FM could not work fine in your region, you could have a try in the local store first.

Best regards

Can a firmware update turn M7 into M7K to add wifi?
Not via firmware, but with the latest M7 firmware, you can disable the whitelisting of apps and you'll be able to install WiFi Manager and enable wifi connection. It works, although it's very range limited , since the player apparently doesn't have an antenna dedicated to the WiFi chip. I did this and I was able to stream via Spotify in my M7.

The quality of Spotify via the limited range WiFi when close enough to router is same as the music that plays from SD card more or less? I mean, same circuitry, DAC and amps at work irrespective of source of music?

Hello, I just got a M7 for myself, and after updating the firmware to the latest one (1.08), is there any way to pair the M7 with an Android phone for Fiio Link? As the M7 is not showing up in the android app, but the M7 is already connected as a bluetooth sink to the phone streaming in LDAC.

P.S: is there also a way to choose the bluetooth sink "mode"? as I am currently changing between LDAC and SBC every time I connect.
Thanks a bunch!
