Meet The FiiO M7: An Exynos 7270-Powered HiFi Music Player

Ok :) sounds like a break line problem... Are you working on Mac? You should have a CR and LF on windows, LF on Unix, and CR on Mac (this last doesn't work). Perhaps you could test with another edit program...

I'm extremely excited, it works!! So here is the definitive answer for placing your m3u playlist in the root of the SD Card and having all your music in a directory called HD that is off the root. It appears that CR and LF works together, I switched to Notepad++

#EXTM3U
./HD/The Smiths/The Smiths/04 - Pretty Girls Make Graves.flac
./HD/Billie Holiday/Lady Day_ the Complete Billie Holiday 1933-1944 Disc 5/10 - Let's Dream in the Moonlight [78 Rpm Version].flac
./HD/Triumph/Thunder Seven/05 - Time Goes By.mp3

What is unbelievable is that Fiio wouldn't just post this on an FAQ on their own site!?! I could not listen to music without playlists. With 18000 tracks across 25 genres I would be wearing my fingers to the bone selecting songs and listening. Now I can actually use this device.

Thank you for doing what Fiio failed to document, Kioufou5!!

I bought a Samsung 256GB card and filled it with 320kbps mp3's but the Fiio M7 crashes on it.
The card is 100% good; I just finished a full copy back from it.
It's nice the device has a 512GB limit on the card but if it can't read enough files and crashes even from a 256GB card it's not very useful. The formatting is exFAT.
All is fine with a 128GB card.

Edit 1 : at first the scan counter wouldn't even start but now it is counting... Fingers crossed.

Edit 2 : I'm glad it finished without problem this time. False alarm. I'm glad because I quite like the M7.

Are both cards in the same format?

Ofcourse. That's the first thing I checked.

Hmm. Well I suppose all I can say is that when I reviewed the M7 it went perfectly fine with a 200GB Sandisk card. So, what you might find is that there could be just a single file on that 256GB card of yours that causes a problem (I've actually seen or read about this happening numerous times). So, for the sake of figuring things out, Id recommend making a backup of your 128GB card, then splitting the collection you have on the 256gb card in 2. Place the first half on the 128gb and see if it crashes the M7. If that seems fine then test it out with the 2nd half.

I know that's a rather tedious process, but really it's the only way to begin narrowing down where the issue lies.

After final success creating a playlist, a new hopefully dumb question for the group. Can you do a search for anything but track? Like search for artist. I would think track would be almost the last thing you would be searching for, but it's the only thing that pops up for me. With 1000 different artists, and maybe more albums, scrolling is untenable. Is this a huge mistake that I have missed it or is this a needed feature for a firmware update?

Thanks all!

Dear friend,
You could try the search function in the FiiO music to see if it helps?

In it's current state the search function is useless.
You can search for a track, album or artist and that works fine but there is no way to go to the selected artist, album or track in the database.
It's quite irritating.

I use a 400 GB micro SD without problems...

In addition the research function for genre -> artist -> album is missing... just genre -> album is possible (see one of my last comments here in the thread).
Furthermore the data base pointer is not set correctly.
For example
Artist "d" is currently playing. I'm going into the "currently playing" view ( I don't know the correct word for this view).
If I going back to the data base artist research view - the data base pointer is going to the front (artist "a" ) instead of the current artist "d". This is very confusing for me.
Normally the data base will set the pointer to the correct row not to the front of the data base.
I very often use this kind of "research" instead of the "normal" search function...

@FiiO
I have a special request to you.
Is it possible to implement a 3rd party android app from Sony? The latest Sony headphones (wh1000xm2 and xm3) are customizable in sound and ANC, but only via app.
The required headphones app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sony.songpal.mdr

It would be very helpful for Sony LDAC headphones...
Thanks in advance
Dear friend,

Sorry that the M7 runs on deeply customized system and doesn't support app installation.

Best regards

Aah, it is doing it now after I reset the database. However, no matter what screen you are on (All songs, Artist, Album, Playlists, Genre) it says "Please Input the track name in the search box."

Thank you!
Dear friend,

Yes, actually you could search the artist or album as well. We have asked the engineer to fix that tip in later update.

Best regards

Hi

This is not correct. The FiiO app is an app.... installed on an android system. The developer can implement third party apps, also in a "deep customized system".
That's the reason why I asking you about an implementation of a special app (LDAC headphones relevated). I know, I can't install an app as normal customer.

Yes, and IF they did it for you then everyone and his mother wants their favourite app on it.
They don't offer more apps because this is a very limited system.
They won't do it for clear reasons and persisting won't help.
As snowflake you're simply not special enough
