I listen almost exclusively to rock. Both of these are currently on sale on Amazon, at about the same price. I'm leaning toward the 700's because of the double armatures, but I don't know for sure if that necessarily means that they will sound better. I've seen many good comments about the A161's that confuse my choice. Also, I own the meelectronics CC51, which I like, but I'm wondering if the A161's will be that much better. Any observations?

Having owned the CC51, I can say for sure there will be a big difference. The A161 have a neutral sound, comparable to Etymotics. I've also had the UE700, which are good and are likely to have more low-end oomph than the A161, but not much. Very bright sound. Don't take my word for it though as my primary experience with Meelec is with the A151, which also sound different from the A161.
