I'm interested in these headphones from Sony to use with my portable MD player. I'd like to know what the general consensus is on these phones from Sony:

MDR-V6
MDR-V600
MDR-V500DJ
MDR-V7506

I'd prefer the folding design, and a coiled cord, but if that comes at the price of ****ty sound, then I can do without.

Thanks.

V6 = *****
V600 = **
V500 = *
7506 = **** (only losing one mark because they're the same as the V6, but cost $40 more)

That is as brief as I can make it, although I daresay a whole can of worms about how bad the DJ line up is will ensue

From the posts that I've read, the MDR-V6 and MDR-7506 are the same thing. I really can't comment on the sound, but form what I've heard its supposed to be good.

I dont think you should bother with MDR-V600 and MDR-V500DJ.
General consensus is that the DJ series of Sony headphones are overpriced and terrible.

BTW I like your avatar

I use the V6 for portable use. Works very well -- easily driven (no amp required), decent isolation, durable, and foldable.

Check shopping.yahoo.com for prices. It's a bit harder to find them now than when I bought my pair a few months ago, but you should be able to get a good price online.

THE Vx000DJ SERIES SUCK, BLOW, AND OTHERWISE PERFORM ACTIONS NOT SUITABLE FOR MENTION IN THESE FORUMS.

The V6/7506 are quite nice; good studio monitors.

ROFL!

The V###DJ series have NO practical deep bass - that bass response drops rapidly below 60Hz!

I have the V6 and use them constantly. I'm using them right now. I use them on my computer and with my iRiver ChromeX. They sound perfect on my PC, but on my ChromeX PCDP the bass is a bit too quiet and I don't think that you can change the EQ of presets and I'm not experienced enough to set the EQ myself. I know it's just the preset though since the bass is definately there with with the Ultra bass preset.
