Well, BeachAudio doesn't have any in stock ATM. I just ordered from Etronics yesterday: http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?...000&svbname=30
They are reputable and they say they have them in stock, ships in 24 hours, but I haven't received shipping confirmation yet. $439.99 from them.

They were $429.99 at around 1 AM CST this morning, when I ordered my pair. Prices have been going up everywhere since Digitalfotoclub.com has them for $380 last week. Supply and demand...

Ordered from Beachaudio on Thursday at the $392 price. Received an order acknowledgment the same day. On Friday I received a request for an address confirmation, which I provided. Today I got a shipping notice with UPS tracking number and a separate thank-you note for the address confirmation.

According to UPS the packaged shipped Friday the 25th with a scheduled Wednesday 3/30 delivery date. Pleasant surprise since I was expecting to be told they were on backorder.

Hi dougbrad81,
I ordered SA1K 8 days back(Sunday). They shipped on monday and since I choose only ground shipping it took a week via UPS to come from Phoenix,AR to New england.
The packing is excellent.

They have excellent ratings at all major reviewers like resellerratings.

I ordered from BeachAudio.com just this past friday... I guess I got one of the last ones in stock (before going backordered). It shipped today and should be here by thursday, per the tracking number.

Looking forward to comparing against my HD555.

Awesome, I was planning on ordering SA1k's from Beach too.

-I'll be interested in knowing how they run straight out of sources for you, unamped. =)

Gshan,
I do sound bit thin without amp. I guess I need a good amp for it now

I am no audiophile. GSFerrari can give good review of the phones as he has loaned SA5k and can give unbiased review of SA1K alone now.

I am getting Echo Indigo IO in couple of days, let me see whether things improve after that. Also let the phones burn in for a while before I can form any credible opinion.

They look great for a $117 phones. I do not have a SA5K to compare, but Build quality is also good.I hope Grado reduces 225 to same price.

Beachaudio just guaranteed I will accomplish nothing useful for the rest of the day. My SA5000 order arrived a day early. Packaging is very professional and inspires confidence. I recommend the vendor.

I have the SA1000 right now (no SA5000 - it is on loan) and I enjoy it a lot. I also have the SR-325i and it is pretty sweet as well. I think the 325i is more well rounded than the SA1000 but a bit congested in the midbass region which makes you feel suffocated in comparison with the airy presentation of the SA1000.

Tough call purely from a performance standpoint.

But then you look at the price...

And then you look at the resolution of the SA1000...

But then you look at the glorious midrange of the SR-325i...

And then you scratch your head till you lose all your hair...

And finally you give up and play GT4 on the PS2

Nice. Mine are scheduled to arrive tomorrow, but I'm not getting them earlier. At least they're in the same state.

Would you say that for someone who has gotten used to the 325i sound for the past few weeks might find the SA1000 on the thin side? How about the brightness. I'm not finding the 325i to be bright, this is with C-pads, though.
