Hi,

do any of you know if there is any technical difference between the Sony phones MDR-NC200 and MDR-NWNC200 (which I believe is a Japan exclusive)?

The NWNC have the Walkman branding and is also stated to support the built-in noise cancelling features of the Walkman Z. Would this feature also work on the NC200, or do they miss the circuits necessary for supporting this without an external battery?

The MDR-NWNC200 only works with the a Walkman that has the noise cancelling software or feature on it. I have them and they work with the NW-Z1070 that I got in Japan last December. No battery is needed whatsoever. The NC200 wouldn't work in the same way. There's an explicit setting in the noise cancelling software on the Z where you select the MDR-NWNC200 or theMDR-NWNC33.

For grins and yucks, I tried 'em on the NW-X1060 (the Japanese model, not the NWZ variant) and they also work.

Doing a bit of a comparison review between those and the AKG K490NCs at the moment.
