What's the difference between these two Sony earbuds?
Originally posted by purk Hi, Sorry for not replying.. Anyway, E565 is a good quality earphones. It was released in 1994(??) and discontinued in 1997. The sound of the 565 can be described as smooth, and bass heavy. It has a laid back presentation, and average high. From my experience, Sony MDR-E888 sounds better than the E565. E565 was a standard earphones on Sony Portable Dat player. I can't comment on the E575, except it is a more expensive model of the E5xx series. I read somewhere that E575 has too much midbass and sound somewhat boommy. The top of the line of sony earbuds goes like this: 282, 484, 585 (?), and 888. That's all I know. PUrk |

Originally posted by purk Hi, Don't forget to give some impression on the E575. Do you prefer the E565 to the E888? I haven't used either very much recently. I prefer the 888's clarity throughout the frequency spectrum, but the 565 has a bit fuller bass. If you are plannig on collecting Sony earphones, Sony MDR-E484 is the king of Sony earbuds. Purk |
Originally posted by krayzie I scored a 575 off eBay before with only one driver working long ago (threw it out eventually)... my impression of it was that it is indeed very boomy, and sounds not all that good compare to even the 838... that's only my opinion... The 565 and 575 came out together back in 1990 if I remember correctly... The 565 is called the Violo, forgot the name of 575... The 484 is called Cela... hehe I love it when they give names to products... ![]() I'm going to update my yahoo link with some 565 pics I found no long ago... will do after this post... I think the 565 is so beautiful looking... But honestly, just hooked up my 484 with my WM-EX80 tape player and listening to some New Order... Gosh, one of the best Sony combo ever!!! |
Originally posted by krayzie The 575 was priced at 5500yen, the 565 at 4400yen, and 484 at 8000yen... These were the top three earphones during the early 90s... For comparison, the 888 is priced at 8000yen, EX70 at 5000yen, and on a side note the old 282 was 7000yen in 1985... I just remember, the 575 is called the Stera... |
After I broke my diamond ones (MDR-E???) by stepping on them, I bought the 565's for about $60 here in the US. I don't recall the 575's being available here. But they should be a bit better, eh? |
Originally posted by purk Mike, My comment was based on somebody else impression as well. Only you can tell. How long will it gets here? Purk |
Originally posted by purk Mike, I meant the E-575's impression. I have the E888, E484, E472, and used to have the E565. Purk |
