For anyone who owns a 505/707 and MX500's: Does it seem like 30/30 volume isn't very loud to you? I'm trying to figure out if my unit is defective, since max volume really isn't unbearably loud or anything like that. (and no I don't have AVLS on and the volume control on the MX500's isn't pushed down) The unit sounds great though! I just want to figure this out.

Assuming a quiet room, and MX500s, I find that a volume setting of 10 to 12 produces what feels to me like a normal listening level.

It isn't that loud on my Grados, but when I use some sony earbuds it's pretty loud. What headphones are you using? That could be the problem. Also, the 5mW+5mW / 16 ohms amp isn't gonna put out much on it's own.

I've swapped the stock Sony earphones for Sennheisser MX500 on my N707, and now have no need to go beyond AVLS levels, even in heavy traffic.
