Congrats! Had mine just over a month and love it!  Let us know how it is with the LCD-XC.
Love your location!  Got a 2015 Trek Domane 5.2 this summer and still get dropped.  It needs a better engine! Now, if I could strap the MHA100.. umm.. no..

Well, went and bought a pair of HD800 today, sitting here now for a couple of hours listening! First impressions were "dull and lifeless" but having switched back to the PS1000, I think I might be preferring the HD800 long term. Still early stages, and lots of settling in to do!! I know it's distorting the original signal, but I am appreciating the Bass Boost of the Mcintosh. This could have been a good move after all.

The Bass Boost on the MHA100 is amazing.  I've tried other EQ software and always turned off EQ due to distortion or unnatural sound.  For me, the boos on the MHA100 in subtle and very natural just giving it at little more punch and life.  I just keep min at +2.5dB and it does the trick nicely.
Enjoy the process of getting to know the HD800 with the MHA100.. It's a wonderful pairing!!

I recommend you to replace the stock cable with a good OCC Copper cable. I even replaced the small wires that connect the connectors to the drivers with OCC Copper and really gave body to the HD800 sound.

Thanks chaps, I am gradually selling off all my speaker system, best thing I ever did. The reasonable cost (um, umm) of a headphone system just blows away any speaker system I have had. Great to have a few pairs of headphones to play around with. This hobby of ours can just give so much pleasure.

Not to get into a debate but.. If I had to choose between my 2CH/AV System and my headphone system, I'll take the speaker system.  My Martin Logans just destroy HD800.  Just for giggles, I took the MHA100 down to my AV system, hooked it up the Martin Logan Vista's and the subwoofer (Martin Logan Grotto i) and WOW!! Just sayin'

Sure, no debate, just an expression of preferences. Does the MHA do a good job with speakers? I do really like the look of Martin Logans, but they are not practical for my room. My local dealers has a pair of Magnaplaner 12 at a good price. I would be lying if I said I was a bit tempted. I don't need loud sounds, or deep bass, but love a wide, open, airy sound. Without getting away from talking headphones etc, anyone have any thoughts?

Any help appreciated, and apologies to divert the thread momentarily.

JustinS - I sure would go ahead and audition the MG12 with the MHA100. It may make a wonderful combo! I'm definitely with you on the wide, open airy sound.
I really don't think that MHA100 is OT as the speaker amp portion is one of its key feature sets.  I think the MHA100 is a perfect centre piece for a small spaces be it with headphones, speakers or both.

Thanks Mickey, I have unboxed my (too big) ART Alnico8 speakers and have got them connected to my little UnitiQute at present. Although it is a completely arse about face system, it does sound good! I'm away for a couple of days, but will wheel the MHA in eventually. Waiting for my wife to get in from work to hear her expressions, what with me completely taking over the lounge. I'll preempt this one by having a nice cup of tea on the go for her!!!:D
