those headphones look like a variation on Beyer T1... did MacIntosh contract this out to Beyer?
I'm not sure if official, but seem to recall something about a "german headphone company, not Sennheiser". So yes.
If I connected my SACD player to the MHA100, would I be bypassing its internal DAC?
Mike, could you compare the Mac vs the Phonitor 2?
Phonitor 2 is more precise while MHA-100 is easier on the ears. If you got AKG K702-65th/K702/K701/Q701, you have to hear it on the MHA-100. #Killer!

Classic Mcintosh design with the blue lighting and the meters. It's good to see them coming up with new items, especially something for the head-fi market. But at a price of $4500......
I agree, The amp is probably worth about $1500. The rest of the change goes into the looks and the McIntosh name. If it was $2500 less, then well talk. LOL
If I ever get the chance to hear one, then MAYBE it is worth it to some people. But it would have to sound amazing for its current price.

... the most expensive single piece of gear I've purchased. But for a DAC/AMP that also pushes speakers I could justify it.
