Peter flatly refuses to sacrifice the build or parts quality of McAlister Audio equipment by engaging in production short cuts or compromised circuit design. We are faced with having no option but to increase our pricing by an average 22% effective February 19, 2007 (All current in-house orders will be fulfilled at the originally agreed pricing).

If you read the rest of the message you will see that the change is definately a good thing. The reason for the price going up is pretty clear.

You'll also notice that he has suspended orders until Feb 19th in order to give him some time to get caught up on all his backlog. Quote:

A consistent comment by our customers both old and new is that they find our pricing unbelievably low in comparison with other companies producing high quality tube audio equipment. While parts and production costs have increased dramatically over the past several years McAlister Audio has managed to hold the line on pricing. Like other manufacturers however, we can’t remain immune from market forces indefinitely.

We find ourselves in the position that we have an order book that is full, and a four week back ordered production / delivery schedule. At this time McAlister Audio is temporarily suspending the acceptance of new orders until we can catch up with some of the backlog. It is anticipated that this will be a short term strategy with new order fulfillment commencing Feb 19, 2007. In going forward from this point McAlister Audio will commit to a 3- 4 week order / delivery on most products.

As you may be aware all of our equipment is hand built with point to point wiring and hand wound output transformers. Each unit goes through a personal QC and lengthy sonic audition by Peter McAlister before acceptance and shipping.

Nobody (us included) likes having to pay a little more for our toys but something had to give. Factoring in this price change we believe that Mcalister Audio products will still represent the very best value on the market for serious audiophiles and music lovers.

Keep an eye on our website www.mcalisteraudio.com for the finalized pricing, updates and new openings in the order book commencing Feb 19, 2007. Thank you for your continued support and enjoy your listening.
