Are they worth a punt at £15?

Will I notice an improvement on standard Ipod buds ?

IMHO yes they are worth the price.
They are more bassy than stock i-buds, in terms of impact and extension. Not as airy sounding though, being canalphones they are VERY in the head sounding. Even for a canalphone. I gave my black pair to my niece and she was excited about their superb comfort, even with the stock tips.

I modded mine by removing the paper filter, and replacing it with some small pieces of KSC75 earpad foam. The HIGHS are MUCH improved, increased clarity.

A good little phone for not a lot of $$. (although a KSC75 is still a better phone for the $$ so long as you don't need isolation IMHO)
