Hey guys,

Have a chance to pick up a set of D-2000 pretty cheap. From people that have some experiance with them, which is the superior mod? I've heard great things about both of them, but I'd had to get the J$ pads and wish I had the MarkL mod later. Music is mainly classic rock, trance, and some Jazz. Thanks.

O_o J$ are leather pads
markl is a mod + stuffing of pads.

are you not happy with d2000s if you are happy keep them as they are .

I just did the vibration damping of the driver assembly and the JMoney.
I am very happy with them.

Actually that leads me to another question. Do the J$ pads fit over your ears? Seems like the "earhole" is rather small from the pics.

They fit over my ears... they're not that small

personally I prefered the D2000's without the J$ pads, but I know that others would disagree with me. If you wear glasses I think you are better off with the stock pads.

It's the same size as the stock one, it's just that the top doesn't round off so it appears smaller.

And it's not a matter of which is better, it's a matter of finding the right balance.

First of all, if you love the D2000s as they are, don't get either. If you want a bigger soundstage and find the bass a little bit out of control, get the J$ pads. If you like the soundstage as is, but find there's a bit too much bass, get a partial markl mod without the pad stuffing.

If you find there is entirely too much bass as I did, I'd say get both, as the J$ pads have the same effect as the markl stuffing pads (slightly superior bass control and bigger soundstage), just better and they don't get hot on your ears.

Gahh I do wear glasses, and have already ordered them with J$ pads. Hope this isn't a major issue.

^^yes they will fit the d5000. I believe the d5000 is just a d2000 with wooden cans and a bit better cable.

Denon JMoney pads fit the D2000/D5000/D7000.

I wear mine with glasses, no issues with comfort at all (or I should say wore, sold the D5000s I had em with for my new cans that are on their way).

I mean you definitely notice a little more pressure from the frame of your glasses with the J$ pads, but not enough to make it uncomfortable.

I also wear mine with glasses and have no issues. I also like the real leather over the synthetic leather of the original pads. They both work pretty much the same. It is just your preference of softer markl modded synthetic leather or the jmoney real leather that is a little harder.

J$ are significantly better than even the stuffed stock pads, but you have to 'break in' the J$ pads before they soften out and get much more comfortable. They also give more ear room, and I don't feel my ears pressing against the fabric insides of the pads.

Ok got them and have been listening to them for a couple of days. Here are my impressions and questions so far.

In comparison to the HD650, these seem to have much more (though boomier) bass. The highs are rather silibant on certain notes, and the mids are rather recessed. So the questions are:

1. Does this can even out with some burn in?
2. Is it effected largely by an amp (currently am waiting on a Glite+dps)?
3. How long is average burn in for these?

Yes. They do chaneg with burn-in. I will recommend at least 200 hours.
The bass will tight up some. The mids and highs will settledown and tha soundstage will open up a little bit.

I have run them with a GS-1, RPX-33, RP010B and V100 and IMO they sound very similar with all of them.
