On my 325is, there is a number (1562 I believe) that looks like it was carved in it with some sort of tool. Its located on the black part of the driver housing to the right of where the cable enters. Does anyone else have a number there or know what it is for?

Mine is 1697 (and rather unprofessionally scratched on!) -- as the box has the same number written on it, I suppose it's most likely the serial number?

Yeah, i do agree the number looks like it was stratched on by some drunk kid with a monkey jumping around his shoulders while he was grappling with a very, very blunt pen knife.

Oh and btw, my serial number is 2048 and i love my new 325i's.

Mine is 1559. Would've liked a more meaningful number like: 1337 or 8008's or something.

yep probably only on the gold 325i. I wouldn't be suprised to see the 325i going to silver like the MS2i after the year is done. and no serial #s.
