The only reason that I ask this question, is because after finally excorcising my CD63SE, and replacing it with the Sony XE570->JE770 (acting as DAC) the sound is completely different...
I've now actually got a deep bottom end to the sound, and the midrange appears less cloudy... now is this how cheap equipment sounds... bass(ier) yet somehow clearer... or is the Marantz CD63SE that much of a lemon, even though the Hi-Fi press were going nuts about it when it was released?
Also, how highly would you rate the DAC in the MD recorder, compared to more 'normal' DACs? - doing it this way is the only way that I can hear both the CD and the MD through my Creek Amp... and it really doesn't sound that bad...
Thanks
