RCA Triple Mica Black Plate 5751 is my third favorite with this amp.
Cryo'd Sylvania Triple Mica Black Plate 5751 is my second favorite.
Raytheon Double Mica Black Plate 5751 with windmill getter is my favorite.

After a few days use, I very much prefer all three tubes to be dampered with Herbie's Supersonic Halos. I like them best with the halo positioned at the getter on each tube.

I won a pair of Mullard 12AX7's in AudioKarma's 6th Anniversary Giveaway. Anyone have experience with one of these as the gain tube?

I'm trying a Raytheon double mica w/windmill. I was having problems with certain channels not loud enough. There were parts of a song where vocals or instruments were not loud enough, but other areas were overpowering. I was straining to hear certain areas and just turning the volume up was too loud and annoying. I have noticed a big difference with this tube. Separation and ballance is more uniform and pleasing to listen to. I plan to try the other 5751 options in the future. I can tell you the Raytheon tube is better than the 5751 Sovtek that came with my HD200.

I wonder if a nice matched pair of output tubes would help also.

1953 GE TMBP . Large w shaped clips on top and bottom of the rods. Good luck finding some though.
Sylvania Gold Brand Gold Pin also very good.
