I was listening to NPR Morning News (linked to article - its segment #14 -- just fast-forward to the end -- you'll have to do it 13 times), and they featured a band called Maktub. They're a Seattle-based band with some serious soul, from drums, bass, guitar, and of course, the lead singers vocals.
Check out some of their music in MP3 format. Listen to all of them because it's all pretty diverse.
They're an independent band -- I mean, with skill like this on the loose, and they're unsigned? Unreal.
Listen to the NPR article! The bands name is pronounced "Mock-Tube". I've never heard of them before, and man, I'm most definitely going to pick up these guys. Check out their CD on Amazon.
