Wow. Happened last friday but I just found out. In a former life I was a graduate of the USC School of Theatre, so I have some idea how rough it is for asian actors. Now we lost the godfather of Asian-American theatre.

Anyways, just thought I'd share if you haven't heard.

Man, that's too bad. He got to play all kinds of characters. I remember him from many roles in M*A*S*H.

Mako must have played Korean, Japanese, and Chinese characters in his lifetime.

I've always found it amusing when a Chinese actor/actress is cast to play the role of a Japanese character, or a Japanese actor is cast to play a role of a Chinese character, etc. Think up all the combinations.

My family is Japanese-American, and we'd always get a chuckle.
