Making Zen Vision M line out quieter?

I'm connecting it to a cmoy, and its fine except that I can only use a small part of the pot's range.
I guess it's really not a big problem, I was just looking to see if there was an easy way to mess with it in the ZVM's software or something.

CMOYs are not good matches for the ZVM, since you really need some sort of volume control. Just based on my experience.

It sounds like the gain on your Cmoy is set too high for the phones you are using.

You can either lower the gain or use an impedance adapter.

I don't have any experience building cmoys, so take a look in the DIY section or other sites with Cmoy info.
