Hey all,

Long time lurker, finally decided to register here. I like to thank/blame this forum for giving me yet another expensive hobby :)

I currently have:

Sony MDR-V6 for listening at home
Sennheiser HD598 for... also listening at home
Monster Turbine Pro Copper as my on-the-go IEMS
Fiio E6
TI PCM2704 DAC (gotta start somewhere)

Mostly listen to music on my MacBook or Nexus 6P. Hip hop, rap, trap, dubstep. Taste / preference is on the bassier side.

Looking to finally pull the trigger on a new amp (and in anticipation of grabbing the Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro 80/250 at some point), and I found there are some sales right now. Just looking for some suggestions or help picking between

Fiio E11K (A3) and Fiio E17K.

I know the MacBook's have pretty good DACs built in, but I'm wondering (and comparing amp to amp for this sake), is the E17K an upgrade over the E11K?
They both seem to be on sale right now (Canadian) - $69.99 and $129.99 respectively. Are either/both of these a substantial upgrade from my trusty E6?

Cheers,
Shub

The FiiO A3 (E11K) is a amplifier only, while the E17K is a DAC and amplifier.
As the Mac should already have a decent DAC chip, might as well get the FiiO A3.

The A3 is a more powerful headphone amplifer, then the E6.
