Recently bought "rays and hail, 1978-81" by Magazine. The guy at the music store was about to give up on recomendations, since I already had everything he could think of. But just as I was about to leave, he ran off and dug up this album.

I had never heard of them, and gave it a quick listen. The first part of the album was quite 70's rock inspired and the later had a slight 80's feel to it. I bought it as I couldn't stand leaving empty handed. After a few days I realized this was probably the best buy I've made in years! Great stuff, not the worst recording quality either.

I also have "rays and hail" collection by Magazine, band started when Howard Devoto left Buzzcocks in late 1970's to start his own band. Magazine only lasted a few years but put out 3-4 albums, songs:
-shot by both sides
-light pours out
were very popular in punk/new wave bars I frequented during those days.

I like "The Correct Use of Soap." These guys had a very intelligent, sophisticated "punk" sound.
