So a while back, I sold my iMod Hornet combo because I decided I wanted to listen primarily from my laptop. My original plan was to get a Headroom Micro stack, then I considered a Pico, but financial considerations forced me to save my money, so I got a MisterX HPDAC to tide me over. I finally have about $500 to spend, and I'm drawn to the Predator because of its versatility. It'd be nice to get good sound from my laptop and have something to amp my Nano if necessary, and the descriptions I've read of the Predator's sound really appeal to me.
But it suddenly occurred to me that I may not be getting much better sound than I started with back when I had the Hornet iMod combo. Anybody have any opinions about whether the Predator sounds better through its dac than an iMod + Hornet? Or am I in danger of coming full circle without upgrading my sound?
