Mac users, what do you think of aac true vbr?

the vbr in itunes works pretty well too. i generally use max.app instead - it does cd paranoia as well as encode into native quicktime files as well as other codecs that are external or application supported.

most of my files i encode at vbr 225 but, that is only because i want peace of mind. when i use 128 vbr generally i never find problems but every encoder has problem samples that i may never overcome.

aac is a good codec and the quicktime encoder does a very good job. enjoy

I used to encode at AAC 256, but 192 VBR AAC does just as good.

See ya

I also use XLD, mainly for converting my flac files (home setup) to aac (iphone use) and it does a great job in 192 VBR AAC.

my friend said hes tried using vbr (i forgot if its mp3 or aac)... but then since he listens to a lot of classical music, he said that vbr is horrible for classical.
