Has anyone else tried installing Microsoft Office on the XP partition using bootcamp? I've got a Macbook Pro with XP professional installed and for some reason it won't read my Office (Student Edition) to install it. Has anyone else had a similar or problem or have you been able to successfully install Office?

The macbook dvdr has trouble reading microsoft dvds, I've noticed. But why aren't you running office2004 for mac?

I'd suggest either copying the dvd via a pc, or contacting microsoft...

Already had 2003 Student sitting around for my PC, plus I've read Office 04 for macs doesn't run as smoothly. I'll give it a try copying it.

Well, copied it to a CD-R and it looked like the installation was going to work but then in the middle of installing it, it said the installation source was corrupt and it couldn't finish. Any ideas??

office 2004 runs rather nicely...much better than the previous office for the mac, IMO. still waiting for the UB version of office, which will probably be office 2007, but office runs nicely in rosetta... sorry that doesn't address your problem, but thought i'd interject with a thought about office 2004...

Agreed. I don't what idiot said Office 2004 runs worse, but from my experience, the opposite is true. One of the plus points of switching to Mac is Office 2004.

Having said that, I prefer NeoOffice 2 alpha, but nothing against Office 2004, it's much better than its XP counterpart.

IE, WMP, and MSN IM for mac are different issues entirely. It's like they actually care about the end result with Office 2004, for once.

I agree with Plainsong. It's worth running Office on the Mac just for the "Project Center" feature, which has no equivalent yet in the Windows version of Office. Depending on how you like to work, the Project Center is a killer feature.
